The guy has a wicked TONE! Thanks for posting. One of the very few artists I would still make an effort to see live.

Sounds like a drunk Neil Young! (in a good way)

Remember he played very similar eerie stuff in the climax scene (killing of Dwight Yoakum) in Sling Blade" gave me chills....

I've walked my dog near his house before and have heard things like this coming from his place. He's a wild man.

Over the years he has just gotten more and more "out there" on the guitar but I love his I don't give a **** psychedelic attitude. The first time I saw him about 5 years ago, his tone instantly became one of the most powerful yet nuanced tones I'd ever witnessed at a concert. His sound his totally alive in some way.

Well after 20 years of hammering Neil Young I discovered Daniel only very recently after Le Noise..
Totally blown my f##king mind !

I love his music SOOOO much, the stuff he is doing with Black Dub is really inspiring.
The guy has such awesome tone and feel it hurts, his love of beautiful old guitar's and amp's ..

I was a fan of Chris Whitley before I found Daniel.
To see Trixie playing with Dan was just beautiful.

I must of listened to 'Fire' a thousand times..
Also turned me onto the Vox AC30...

I had to hunt down a Orange Kay, SDD3000, Boomerang etc. etc.

Boy I wish I could walk past that house and hear Dan playing, I'd be straight over talking vintage bike's and guitars for sure..
Bob Dylan 'Time out of Mind' hell I can't stop listening the that album.

Brain Blade :rimshot incredable !!!! ...Dan and Brian..well it don't get any better for me anyway...
Did I mention I'm a big fan of Dan :facepalm

    Hurry up back to England.

What impressed me was how distorted that AC30 gets. Im certain quite a few tones on Lanois stuff that sound like a fuzz pedal are just that amp about to explode.

I thought the very same thing, Dan said 'no effects' not even the SDD3000.
That is some 'hot' AC30..he calls it 'The Dark Animal'

I have a couple of early 60's AC30'S and I thought the same going through the 'NORMAL' channel and neck P90 with my Goldtop.. Stick a Korg SDD3000 in front on +4dB and all that changes..they come alive !!!

He also could have the amp set up to break up sooner, different value resistor.

Notice he has 'Silver' Bulldogs not Blue. I wonder if they are the later brighter 'Poly' what ever it sounded awesome..I read he has those speaker's in his Tweeds too....would not suprise me if Neil had pulled his old faithhfull C12N out of his Deluxe for a Vox Silver/Blue on Twisted Road tour I know he was using a SDD3000 but possibly only with the Guild m20.

He uses a little tweed amp a lot too and it has that verge of destruction sound. He's a very soulful cat, fun to watch and listen to. If you dig that AC30 video check out his movie, "Here Is What Is" It was pre-Black Dub, but does have AMAZING scenes with Brian Blades.

I think that room with the AC30 is also where the first Black Dub video was shot.

    Very cool, thanks for posting.

Cool video. I worked with Mark Howard Dan's engineer. Those guys are brilliant and out there. But in a great way. His AC30 tone definitely influenced me and I ended up with a Magic Brit - which is a very musical Vox tone. Hadn't seen this vid either. Cheers. M.

Here's an incredible version of "The Maker" from his Black Box show recently. Haven't seen the ending explode that much before. Killer.

    I do love it so!

Daniel Lanois is such a visionary, I love that primal, gut bucket, I-don't-care, attack and tone! Thanks for the link.
