Wow, what a way to go out! Best of luck to him I say!
Sad news for us gear freaks, cos Dan really did make the best guitars out there.
My two Dano T's are my main guitars, the most inspirational instruments I have ever played.
Little sad I won't get that Strat and Jazzmaster now, was on my eventual wishlist,
but hey Dan's getting his life back :)
Thanks so much for all the great guitars Dan!
All the best for your next journey

This guy set the standard for how to do a proper relic job.

I remember back when he started and how he’d share a lot of his build progress on OSG for some of his Jazzmaster builds.

Sad day, but good for him to get a break. A ton of work goes into each of his builds.

I wonder what the final build number will be?

Sounds like plain old burnout. For those of you who were on the list but won’t get a guitar - be glad. Do you want a guitar built by someone who didn’t want to be doing that any longer? Sounds like he realized that was going to happen and wisely walked away.

The mongrel posted earlier was already listed for a dumb amount so that's not going to set the standard, but this is the guy that single handedly brought the used prices of Dano's up to above $3k. He bought this guitar for $2800 a couple days ago, what luck!

If his history of setting prices is any indication, there ya go.

I just heard this a little while ago and am super sad. I wanted to try one of his jazzmasters but now they’ll definitely be out of reach with the inevitable price hike that will come on what’s out there.

I don’t think we can assume the prices will stay in the stratosphere. For now yes but lest see where the dust settles in a year or two.

You know what the upcharge for the flamed neck was? $70. That says it all.

The fact you could get that much guitar for under $3k was just too good to last forever.

Do we have a rough idea of how many he has built?

By "we" I of course mean someone that's not me.

Okay, I was just wondering if they had a running number that people were aware of, like each piece got a number in sequence or similar.

    Not that I'm aware of.

Don't think mine has a serial number.
