That's a Chad Underwood Tele with a lower wound Ron Ellis Broadcaster. Grissom is a tone monster.

Jeeeeeeesssshhhhh. Trying to enjoy it and all I can think is WTF is with all the chatter??? Folks went to a club to see DG but not listen. I give up.

Great tune, my fave off that Storyville. And he's no Malford, but he did a decent job with the vocals. He's allowed a few pitchy moments with all that guitar goodness.

Great tone and playing! I know he's always held up as an example of a PRS player who gets a good sound out of them, but that Tele sounds so much better, IMO of course.

Just another Tuesday night in Austin. It's shocking who you can catch there on a weeknight for dirt cheap. What a great music scene!

First time I saw Grissom was with James McMurtry on Austin City Limits. On a few songs he was playing a white Tele through a Marshall 50 watt half stack and a Fender reverb unit. Best Tele tone I've ever heard.

Wish I could get a copy of that show. It was a real eye opener.

Is that KWS's bassist (Scott N), who I saw on a recent Experience Hendrix tour in 2010 or 2011? I just remember he had it slung really L-O-W, like this guy.

Cool song & fantastic tone! Any idea what amp(s)/pedal(s) are doing the dirty work here?

Saw an interview with DG recently and he said their weekly gig at the Saxon is paid with a tip jar. Blows my mind that a guy of this caliber is playing for tips. But again he's probably financially comfortable enough to do this for the fun of playing. I'll take 1/4 of his talent and guitar vocabulary please. :)

Great sound and playing. It's no slight of the DGT model which I'm sure is good but he always sounded to me like he could do with a tele :) There are some players that just ooze a particular approach that I associate with specific instruments: DG sound like a tele player to me

    (yeah, I'm a geek)

I first heard David Grissom on ACL with Joe Ely, magical show! That lead me to buy Ely's Live at Liberty Lunch which is one of my favorite albums ever. The James McMurtry show mentioned in an earlier post along with a Michelle Shocked show on ACL just confirmed for me that David Grissom can bridge the greatest of the Tele country pickers with the best of the rock & blues genre's.
