I think that David owns his tone no matter what he plays through. I voted for the Ely “era live” tone as the Live at Liberty Lunch is flat out amazing. That being said, my Marshall addiction has been fed by that tone, the “Whatever We Wanted” Mellencamp album and Chris Kinght’s debut album.
In all fairness, I do own a DG30 and it is pretty special. More Voxy midrange punch than Marshall kerrang.
David is a musician that I look up to in many ways. He is constantly striving for optimal tone and I love that he pushes himself to stretch his limits live. Can’t say enough good about him.
