That's at least two Zevon covers done on Letterman in the last week (see also "Mutineer" done by Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires)

Yup. Duane Betts. I met him last week at a live taping to promote the new album. I've been posting photos over on Instagram.
    Search under me. @theonlytotalpackage
    AKA. Neil Swanson

Very nice guy. I didn't know he was Duane Betts. He introduced himself as Duane. We went for coffee. We talked. He played and I shot.

Later I asked about his LP, a very old beat Goldtop. He said it wasn't really that old but was a prototype of his dad's guitar. His dad? As he turned it over to see the back of the headstock I saw the "DB" and lots of zeros. It all clicked. Duh

Too funny, I know of the guitar. The other guitarist meet Dickey on his tour bus. He said, Dickeys tech came aboard with an incredible authentic old greened out beat up Goldtop.
They handed to my buddy. He didn't realize it was Murphy aged until he flipped it over
and saw the phototype designation you described.
    Small world.
If I have to sit through him telling me story one more time I'm going have to to shoot myself though.

Dickey was easily one of my biggest influences from the first drop of the needle the first ABB album.

It's so cool you got to hang with Duane. Big shadow.

Geez I enjoyed that. I agree with davebc: they nailed it on every level, almost as if Warren was in the room.

    Great post, thanks.

    Spooky right??
I went through a phase recently where I only listened to Warren Zevon for a good 6 weeks, got everyone around me doing the same thing. It was pretty intense. Read every lyric too. Pure genious.

Yes, uncanny. Since originally posting I have sent it off to friends who agree it was as Warren were there.

That was beautiful. My favorite Zevon song and probably one of my 10 favorite songs. Agree with all that they absolutely nailed it.

Minion glasses. Yes. Funny that while I was hanging with the guys at the session that those glasses came up.

Welding goggles was one reference. I like Minions better. It's not just for the show that he wears that stuff. 10? years ago I was way down below Houston St and I saw Paul on the street just walking around. The weird ass glasses are a daily thing. His thing
