One freaking great band!
incredible music! taylor G is a major force of talent. his writing and the words he gets to rhyme are mega poetry. DIG!!!!
I so agree!
I love this version of this tune. The lyrics are beautiful!
I'm on board here too. Great band.
great band. I didn't want to like them at first, but "North Hills" grew on me pretty fast. "Nothing Is Wrong" is a pretty good album as well!
Loved these guys a bunch when their Nothing Is Wrong album was released. Saw them on New Years Eve in Minneapolis. It was one hell of an amazing show.
I over listened to them, although I do that with most bands/records.......primarily in the pursuit of something new and different.
I like this example. Instead of a boost pedal or a volume knob on the guitar, he goes from finger picking to grabbing a pick before the solo.
I'm kinda meh on them - a little too polished for my taste.
I dig Middle Brother though!
Great version, such a good band. I wonder if that tele is a GVCG? Jonathan Wilson did produce their records.
The first time I heard "a little bit of everything" I was on the highway. It was the first time a song ever made me pull over and listen. My 14 year old son usually listens to Dubstep. A few weeks ago I walked into his room and he was in the shower singing this. I love the way they channel Warren on this tune, especially in this raucous live interpretation.
IDK what a GVCG is, but Taylor told me that Jonathan made that white tele for him.
And yeah, these guys are the real deal. It's nice to see there is in fact real music out there, even if you have to search for it most times.
Jonathan is GVCG or Greenwich Village Custom Guitars, some of the best and most elusive vintage replicas out there.
I had a feeling that the white tele was a GVCG. I can't lie though, I dig that doublebound custom Taylor has as well
I listen to this and I can't help but hear Jackson Browne. Anybody else?
john in san diego
There's early 70's LA all over their sound. And I mean that in a good way - Dawes is my favorite new band.
The "one more chicken wing" line makes me think of Zevon, along with opening piano part.
They did back Jackson Browne on a bunch of shows last year and sounded awesome doing it.
didn't they tour and/or back Jackson Browne last year or two years ago?
I agree with the late 60's/early 70's L.A. sound. I love that stuff and Dawes as well.
I like em. I agree, they sound like Jackson Browne, and they are pretty smooth around the edges, but they write good songs and seem to come from a sincere place.
I might get sick of them if I hear it too much. (My wife likes them too.) But that's true of anything.
