DBX 266XL Insert Question

I picked up a DBX 266XL online today and need to buy the cable to use with a Soundcraft M8 mixer. If I'm using the 266XL as an insert effect, I just need 2 cables (1 for each channel of the 266XL) right? It should be TRS to TRS balanced and this cable both sends and returns the signal right? So its literally just connecting cable from insert to the DBX 266XL sidechain input????

Anybody recommend a specific cable for this task? Only need 3' max.

Thanks in advance!

You need a 1/4" TRS to 2 1/4" TS, one for the T and the R of the TRS jack on the other end, for each channel.

Just ask for an "Insert Cable" - they'll know what you need.

Plug the "T" 1/4" into the input of the comp, and the "R" 1/4" into the output.

Don't use the sidechain.

i'll also add.....
if your looking at adding more gear in the future (comps+eq's+effects, ect) i'd look at just getting an insert snake. it will clean up behind your console a lot if all your rack gear is at one location. they are also numbered/labeled so making changes is a lot easier than tracing mismatched unlabeled cables.
