Decifering Old Burny Les Paul Models

How do we know what we got? Picked one up and it seems like it's from the 70s based on Wikepedia (gold Burny lettering + Les Paul logo + binding edge to frets). There is no serial number stamped on it or anything. Going to take it home and open it up. Any assistance is appreciated.

Very hard to track down the year of them.. I owned one that was supposed to be a late '70s to early '80s but I could never verify it.
But it was a Great guitar and it had the 5 piece split diamond Head Stock logo.. The previous owned changed out the VH1 pickups to EMGs..
