Delay and Reverb...do you use them at the same time?

I've gone through various delays over the years and have found that some are better in conjunction with delay and some aren't. The main thing I've found is that reverb muddies up the sound if it's not dialed in right or if it's on at all. But, it can also be a pain when you have to tap the reverb off - then tap the delay on right after that if you're trying to hit a cue.

What's you're take on delay and reverb on at the same time?

I use them together all the time when I'm working on my "post-rock" material, occasionally on Sunday mornings, and hardly ever at my pop-band bar gigs.

I use reverb 100% of the time, mostly slightly audible. I use delay over it too, whether slight or extreme. I use amp reverb and pedal delay.

I play everything from Chris Robinson Brotherhood and Ryan Adams & The Cardinals to The Allman Brothers Band and The Stones.

I use reverb 100% of the time, I'll use delay to add some spice if I feel it fits, if I'm playing at church though, the delay is in on a lot because it fits the P&W stuff... But if not at church, very little delay, maybe just a little bit of a simple old quarter note analog in my signal, just for some texture

it's a sound i use. for me it's all about what works for the song, track, part. sometimes a lonely washed out guitar sound echoing thru canyons & trailing off into infinite space it just what the doctor ordered. other times something more raw & intimate is required.

Yes. Light reverb mixed with a proper amount of delay can sound quite spacious.

Did some avangarde stuff with a DJ and used it a lot and ran a fender reverb and an Ep3 in a regular 60's 70's rock cover band. It was just too much so use just the EP3

A great combination of effects. Also even better if you stack 2 delays and a reverb on top.

yes. low mix in the reverb, long decay, long delay, lots of repeats, makes for a nice ambient wash

Sometimes. Like when delay is set to only 1 repeat, it can help to have some reverb to carry on some sound instead of a quick cut-off.

But no reverb for rhythm delay stuff. I find reverb just kills my rhythm when using delay.

I've never gotten along with reverb. I've found that live, reverb just makes everything a little more muddy and a good analog delay does much more to add space. I definitely use reverb in recording, many times in conjunction with delay if it's needed, but I never use reverb live.

I don't need verb over delay, I find it too redundant. I barely use reverb because it keeps me off the mix. And I'm not really fond of deep verbs and ambient music in general. I love it raw.
I just use reverb at home, never when I play loud.

I use both but my reverb is always set very subtle, just enough to thicken things up a little.

Yes, both reverb and delay always on. It's taken much trial and error to find pedal combinations that work best together, especially given the subtle settings I use. (Repeats minimized, very low mix on delay). Some delays just don't sound good that way. When done right, you get one sound that's not much like either reverb or delay alone.

I've always got my amp's spring reverb at 3 and my analog delay on a low level (like 9 o'clock) to just slightly thicken things up. It's taken me many years to learn the benefits of subtle settings with all of my effects.... except Fuzz of course!

my 66 Ampeg Gemini has insane reverb, that's always on about a quarter 100% of the time. Then I run a holy grail for extra spacey ****. so, always got reverb. then I got my dl4 for solo-y or extra space stuff, and my de7 for oscillation and weirdness.

Yes i use then together. No problems. Dial each in tastefully and it wonderful.
