Delay pedals with high gain......bad idea?

    Some have said that using delay pedals with high gain music sounds bad. Agree with this? Anyone using delay pedals and playing hard rock stuff?

    lol, uhhhh....tool? adam jones is a dl4 junky.

    seriously though, used well with high gain, delay sounds amazing. what you dont use it for is tight thrash parts. listen to Sober by tool - theres delay on most of it, but its at least less pronounced during the second and third chorus

    Running a delay in front of a really distorted amp, yes that sounds bad. It needs to be in the loop.
