I have a great sounding 68' Fender Deluxe. However it has an issue. The high E string when played higher up the neck sounds like it is over compressed and simply doesn't sound out. It is like the frequency doesn't cover that wave. Any ideas?

    Have you tried another guitar?

I have got a 77' strat ash body and maple neck with some of the first Texas Specials, and a 65' wildwood 10" Alder body and Rosewood neck with John Cruz pick ups. They both do it.

I hope not, it is a factory orange JBL. But I really don't think iy is. I had it tubed several months ago and the tech told me the speaker was in good shape.

Have this amps tubes checked-it sounds like a tired AT7...check V1 while you're back there.
