Seen him many times and never ceases to amaze.

He gets the most organic, woody tones from his fingers and gear.....from a whisper to a scream, no pedals, nothing but guitars and amps.

Some very cool gear he was pulling out last night too:

Keep an eye out on this tour....Paul Smith brought out one of his new amps for Derek to check out. Based on what I've heard out of those amps so far, if anything can tear Derek away from his BFSR's, those have a great chance!;)

Just checked his tour dates. He does not have any Texas dates (again)!!!

What's the deal with that? He almost never come through here.

Looks like DT has at least a tuner on a board in front of the kick drum, have also heard of him using a Radial ABY box recently. What happened to "straight in"?

The pedals on the right are Todd's.

Derek used a tuner and a true bypass ABY to keep the tuner out of the signal path. He used that to mute when he switched guitars and when he tuned. Note also the extra long cable......

Wow! Looks like they hit a bunch of garage sales! Found those old Silvertones, and cool little tube amps! Looks like fun! Little amps like that sound so pure....Simplicity! He is on my list of favorite players out there! One word comes to mind when I think of him.....Deep.

I guarantee you that Super is on 10 or very close to it.

When I saw DT a few years back (opening for EJ I think) I distinctly remember a Sovtek Big Muff...but, now that I strain a little, I do think it might've been the bass player's. So, does DT really not use any pedals, ever?

I've lost count how many times I've seen him and the ONLY pedal I've seen him use is a Boss tuner.

I saw him Summer of '07 and was seated right in front of him, perfect view of his pedals. He used a strobostomp and a radial ABY box at that time, haven't seen him since though.

The Radial Switchbone(which I assume is the A/B DT is using) has a "boost" feature on it.....since Derek has been going for more gain lately do you think he is using that feature now with his Super Reverbs?

I drove 4 hours to Dallas and bought a hotel just to see Joe Banomasa at The House of Blues (KILLER VENUE!!!). I would do the same for Derek, might even by a T-shirt.
