First, does it make an audible pop when first engaged? Second, does it add much sustain? Lastly, anyone compare to the mad professor compressor?

First : nope, nothing audible.
Second : yes it adds an adequate amount of sustain... it won't go into comp-sustain overkill though.
Lastly : demos sound great, never tried one though

+1, except I have one and it's fantastic.

Agreed with the others, though I've also owned the Mad Professor. The Mad Professor messes with the attack less in sustain mode, about the same in comp mode. It also doesn't get as squished. Also try the Empress, it's the one I wound up keeping. Best of both worlds IMO.

I liked the Mad Prof FG better than the Diamond - more verstaile, sounds great

I've used some other compressors in the past and can't say that the Diamond adds a whole lot more sustain. Definitely get more sustain from the nature of a compressor. But I was able to dial in more sustain with say the Barber Tone Press. Not absent by any means though.

I love the Diamond, and it's been on my pedal board for 3 years solid. But being the comp junkie I am, sprung for a MP Forest Green yesterday, so I can give you a comparison shortly. Also would like to try the RAF Mirage, Empress, and Strymon. At times I want a lot of squish for country, and other times I think the 'sustain' mode would be advantageous with the MP.

Thanks Madison (and everyone), a comparison would be great!
