I'm assuming this is set up is going to sound way better than Presonus firepod I've been using. I was just wondering if anybody has any experience with any of these pieces of gear? I did a search, but I couldn't find anything really good. I know I'm going to have to learn how to use Pro Tools, but I've heard it's very user friendly.. so we'll see!

If you want to check out some recordings I did with the firepod go here... http://www.myspace.com/cprrock

Thanks!

I have a firepod and just got an RNP. I have to say I did not notice a huge difference. But they lately maybe I think my recording sound a little better so it may be subtle.

I also bought all new mics which made a huge difference.

I have an RNC coming today. I think it will help because on all my recordings I may get one spike that causes a clipping. I think the RNC should solve that issue.

The two mics that have really improved my voice and guitar sound are the Sennheiser e914 and the Neumann TLM-103.

I've been using a firepod for a year now, and I'm switching to the Digi 002, even though everybody says I won't be able to hear a difference. The other night, I pulled out an acoustic guitar and miked it up with my cheap AT3035 and it sounded so much better than the firepod. I feel like there's more clarity and definition, but maybe it's just me. I'm recording a band this weekend, so we'll see how it sounds. The RNC and the RNP should be here any day now.

Hmmm, I certainly haven't found the Digi 002 pres to be better than the Presonus ones. I've found them both to be about the same in quality. The program, however can make a large difference. Presonus into a lesser program won't sound as good as a Digi with Pro-tools. Presonus into Logic (my setup) sounds plenty good.

Boy, I guess when you add up all the pieces, it's the sum of the parts.

I tried my new Neumann KM184 with the RNC and RNP and Presonus and now I think this is the best acoustic sound I have ever recorded. Everything adds a little bit and the sum is a pretty great sound for a crappy basement room.

I am using Sonar Home studio.
