Dimensions for a typical guitar shipping box?

    Just wondering if anybody out there knows the dimensions for a shipping box for a guitar in case. I guess the typical box that music dealers receive guitars in from the manufacturers.

    I have a Gibson box that is 48x20x9.

    There is no typical box. Fenders come in boxes that are just a little larger than the case, Gibson electric boxes are maybe 2" thicker, 3" longer and 2" wider. Others vary a lot. Acoustics and electrics are obviously different. Why

    my martin that arrived today came in a box that measures 9 x 47 x 20. A strat that I bought last year came in a box measuring 5-1/2 x 45 x 20.

    A typical fender rectangle case is shipped in an (approximately) 47 x 17 x 6 box...
