I just scored what seems to be a 1990 Fender '59 Bassman RI. I got it on a trade.

Anywho, what dirt boxes sound good with this? I tried and SD-9, and it was pretty good. I am thinking a plain old DS-1 would be sweet.

the jetter gsr, the lovepedal eternity, the xts precision drive, hao rumble mod, hbe powerscreamer and fulltone fulldrive 2 are my favorites. oh, and don't let me forget the bixonic expandora, i prefer the 2000 version with the ri bassman. the ds-1 did not work well, until it was modded. for cheaper pedals, the mxr classic overdrive and the mxr classic distortion worked really well. i got those at gc for 20 bucks new.

Hi,

This may sound odd but a Wampler '57 Tweed pedal. I really helped my RI make all the sounds its DNA wants to but at volumes that made sense.

The Plexidrive pedal took it to the JTM45 side very well.

Miss the amp.

I tried the Box of Rock and thought it sounded a little woofy. I have many pedals and my fav through the Bassman is the OCD by Fulltone.

It sounds perfectly woofy because that's how old Plexi's sound. Just turn the tone knob up a little..

Doesn't that amp sound good enough by itself?
Yeah, but too loud when overdriven.

Nothing odd about that! It's a great pedal, and the volume issue is crucial for your hearing!

Want a very inexpensive pedal?....try the JOYO Deluxe Crunch for $42 https://www.geartree.com/p-39100-joyo-jf-39-deluxe-crunch-pedal-us-dealer-w-2-patch-cables.aspx This thing is killer at any price.

Is that a copy of a well known pedal? Thanks for your input!
I'm not positive about this one. Many of their others are copies. I'd describe this one as similar to a Tubescreamer, but with more tonal variability and 'sweeter' tone. And to put it into perspective, I'm a big fan of TS-9's....have two of them.

Check out YouTube for some good demos of it.
