I have some gold tuners on a pro reliced guitar that looks new, which looks sorta wierd. I would like to relic the tuners a bit. Maybe fade or patina them a bit. Anyone due this at home somewhat convincingly?

I used a silver polishing cloth to remove some of the gold plating. However, this doesn't give any pitting like Gold hardware gets when aging. Steel wool might remove it too

Yeah, the pitting is a bit of a problem. The thing is, I bought a set that has about 4 of the tuners that has some actual aging while the other 2 need some "help" (they are newer than the other 4). Maybe leave them outside for a bit of "weathering"?
