DIY - volume indicator LEDs a la Visual Sound

Hi,

Has anyone tried this? I was considering the Visual Sound volume pedal, but it's huge! I actually already have a Classic Audio FX volume roller which tries to achieve the same thing by varying the intensity of a single LED.....so I was wondering about seeking out some kind of LED strip or similar that I could hook up to the feed for that LED.

There's got to be a way to do it!

Cheers,
Andy

There is, but it's probably not going to be as simple as you'd like it to be -- you can Google "LED bar graph display" to get an idea of the types of approaches that exist. The simplest would probably be based on an LM3914, but you've still got the matter of interfacing to the pedal for measuring -- is it a linear voltage driving the brightness of the singular LED, or a duty cycle of a string of pulses, etc.
