My MAZ 38 crapped out, and the pre and power amp tubes seem fine, but the rectifier tube doesn't glow and doesn't get warm.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers!

Yes,they glow. They are heated the same way other tubes are, with a filament winding. If it doesn't glow,it's likely shot.Replace it and see if your maz fires up!
If it doesn't get hot,it's definitey no good. They get cookin' hot!

    What Phsyco said.

Times like this are why you should always have a backup set of tubes.

thanks fellas. I pulled all the tubes out, and when I put them back the amp worked like a charm, I guess it had just worked its way loose.

    Cheers!

You'd better clean those tube sockets with some DeoxIT... you may need to retension them as well...
