No doubt the Katana has been highly praised for great amp tones, effect meh, but the raw amp tones are great. They can dupe an amp or artist song tone better, imo, than any other digital amp on the scene. The tone can only be compared to the big 3, Kemper, Fractal, Helix. But they don't make a physical amp like the Kat.

So this digital wonder amp makes for a very popular thread in the AMP FORUM, a place for tube lovers.

    My question is,,,
How does the Katana fit into the amp/cab forum?

If lots of musicians gig with them
or even use them for backups ,
why not leaving them in the amp section !

I never thought that the "Amps and Cabs" forum was limited to tube amplifiers

It's not about deserving, it's about definition. There's nothing wrong with an amp being discussed in the amp forum.

The forum's name is "Amps and Cabs". Nowhere in the name does it say "tube". It's an amp. The Amps and Cabs forum is the appropriate place.

yeah I also missed the part where it says "tube amps" only. Probably because it doesn't say that at all.

I also find it very easy not to open a thread about stuff I am not interested in.

    This.

I'd be happy to entertain discussions of potato-powered amps, provided they give up the tonez.

The Katana is an amp and this is the Amps and Cabs forum, so it works for me. I think what may be driving the optics is that:
    1) The Katana initially didn't have much menu diving or tweaking as other modeling amps, so it felt like less of a "digital" topic, and
    2) It is popular, so you're constantly seeing the threads on it (as opposed to a thread on a Mustang III that just sinks to oblivion pretty quickly).

As I understand it (I'm a recovering blonde, btw), it's analog for amp, digital for effects. Is there a hybrid category? I think it's fine where it is. If it were digital for the amps, I might be more inclined to where I think you're going with this, but honestly, outside of the effects, it's an analog solid state amp.

Lucky Katana owners can post in 'Amps & Cabs' as well as 'Digital & Modeling' because it's both!

If this were a tubes-only sub-forum, then no.

Just one since it’s ported :)

And I think the amps and cabs section is where modeling amps should live. I see the digital modeling section for stuff like kemper, fractual, line 6 helix, etc.

Helix is discussed in the Digital & Modeling Gear because it's not an amp. The Katana is an amp, so it's discussed in Amps and Cabs. Why is this so difficult?

It's the AMPS and CABS forum or sub-forum. Of course it "deserves" to be here. As long as folks are liking it, playing it, buying it then it belongs here. I can't even believe this is a question.

What "tube amp forum"? The header is Amps and Cabs. Personally, I appreciate hearing about some of the new SS being launched. I haven't tried one that has quite the beautiful feel (response to what is played, not just overall tone) that I love and get from a couple of my other amps, but I expect that I will one of these days -- soon -- and if current tube manufacture continues as it is going -- straight down the toilet, IMO -- it won't be a moment too soon.
