    As real as it gets,,,

10 years ago there was a lot of tube snobbery around here. And in all fairness, digital amps basically sucked in so many ways. They really didn't have a place here other than to heckle it.

Well, the game has changed with the big 3, Kemper, Fractal, Helix. And the new 4th member to the elite, the Katana/GT1000.

For reasons unknown, of the 4 elite only Boss has made an amp that uses much of the GT1000 but simplified and put in a small amp. This amp idea has been an idea I have brought up so many times here, almost all focised on Kemper bringing out something just like Katana. And who answered my plea? Boss, (I like to think it was my posts here that gave Boss the idea).

Turns out I was spot on correct about a small amp containing the heart of the flagship product being a huge hit. I seriously thought Line 6 would have done it and Fractal and Kemper are too,,,,,,,,, I don't know but they sure are missing the boat. The Kat quickly shot up to the top as the best seller. I so wanted it to be Kemper, but that has now become a low burning flame where I'm all jazzed up about Boss just coming on the scene and making the biggest noise and what's coming next for my little 50w wonder amp. Version 3, 4, 5, for a few years, until the other guys catch up lol.

If it makes me louder, it belongs in the amp section

In before the thread degenerates into ‘locked thead’. ;)

SS amps are being accepted more and more as viable alternatives to toob amps. Whether you like this or not is academic.

Actually, yesterday I did some recording using my Zoom field recorder. It's a great recorder but amps must be pretty quiet or the recorder clips. This was close to impossible with my tube amp, it just sounded uninspiring. But I just turned my Kat to a half watt and it recorded great, full tone, no clip.

Yea, simple amps, the amps I create with the Kat are simple with a little reverb. Something appropriate for electric blues.

You plug your guitar in, turn it up and make music. Its an amp.

We can discuss how it sounds, how it cuts with a band, how it responds, reliability, how good it is for the $$.

I'm happy with my tube amps so I have the option of not clicking on thread.

If too many threads degenerate into modelling vs. tube piss fests, then they should maybe be banished to the digital section. But I don't see why we can't be grown up here.

Doesn't matter. People will still find a way to argue about tubes vs. solid state vs. digital vs. hybrid :D

So what do you think? Has Boss slammed one out of the park with Katana/GT1000?

By popular demand, digital amps are also amps.
That includes the Line6 Spider series.
    And the Blues Cube.
And any other digital pieces of junk you guys wanna talk about.
    There, I said it.

Many would say that the Roland Blues Cube is better than the Katana at doing the tube thing, especially since those amps only focus on one base tone.
