I just had a custom cab made for my 20W amp. The transformers almost touch the inside top of the cab. I'm wondering if that'll be a problem when playing loud for a long time...
I had a Dr. Z 6545 and the power transformer got very warm, almost too hot to touch. The amp sounded great and I gigged it for about a year at pretty substantial volume levels. Not sure of the long term consequences, though......
Yeah, they got hot sometimes. The power transformer in my CCV gets almost too hot to touch. But the transformers in my Diezel don't even get warm. So not sure what the deal is. But if you want to know for sure...
Turn on your amp and see for yourself. That seems like the obvious answer...
No heat from the output to concern you , but the power trans
may get warm ( 50wattish consumption ) . This is a small amp really
and wouldn't be a problem . It should all be rated to 85centigrade anyhow.
