Really enjoy vintage 50's P90 equipped LP's with all tweed amps, but prefer 6v6 tubes. For PAF type pickups I prefer to hear them with big iron Bassman or Twin or HP Twin.

I much prefer the deluxe reverb tone with a LP, almost as much as a Plexi. Especially on a stage made from some old wood.

-Do you like a warm, woody tone with cutting mids, and 3D presence? I do :)

But I don't like muddy tones, so I stick with the old school Jensen speaker.
The Burstbucker Pro's shine with this amp and coil tap is really nice too. A P90 LP would also be a nice match.

Reviving this thread just to throw my 2c in .

The interactive controls on the 5e3 can yield more head room and tighter bass for a les paul ...... make sure you have a 12ay tube in v1

normal input , set vol at noon for now,

set tone at noon as well ,

bring up the bright channel vol to between 10 and 12 on the dial ....you will hear the bass woof reduce and the channel clean up in general.

You can then fine tune your tone, and normal channel vol to taste..... there is also the choice of hi, or low input as well.

This method , coupled with a clean boost pedal and OD should allow you to cover a lot of ground with a Les Paul ...... works for me anyway
