That's because it's an ethnicity. Also, it's very telling that this is the only part of the argument you have any substance in.

I don't care. This is a thread about pedals you simply don't like the name of. You're the one who wanted to make this into an argument and have yet to prove me wrong

Yeah, I took your bait and bit. Like a fool. For that, I'm guilty. Meanwhile, your arguments have done nothing but point out your lack of ability to present a logical proof to support your claims on the reason someone you never met named something and persist to think you're winning something?!

Why would I need to prove anything to you?

You asserted the name was racist based on an assumption YOU made. I and several others disagreed and you continued to argue your point to which several of us have posted information that refutes your geographic vs race classification and you stand there telling me that you are so dense that you don't see where maybe you should re-examine your initial statement and maybe research it further? THAT is my problem with you and people like you.

Sorry I took this guy's bait, everyone, including the O.P.I will cheerfully redact any and all contributions to this thread just because of the gross digression into flame-baiting and name calling.

I find the term "crybaby" wah to be offensive, because it implies that all infants are emotional whiners/screamers.

    :sarcasm
    /sarcasm off

Frankly, I don't understand the reason why AMT called their wah a "Japanese Girl Wah", since, as pointed out, the Japanese did not do foot binding, and I don't see the other connections at all either that others have suggested. Perhaps their marketing department got their stereotypes mixed up? Or maybe it was an off the wall name that stuck for some silly reason?

Anyway, regarding the "Japanese" race vs the "American" race, while there are undoubtedly genetic markers linking the current population of Japan with the surrounding populations on the mainland, the "people of Japan" themselves can be very eager to define themselves as a race, or at least a monolithic ethnic group:

    From Wikipedia:

    Also from that Wikipedia article:

That's fairly homogeneous, compared to other nations. However, the article on Japanese people states:

So it is muddied waters, as usual, where beliefs and hopes (see the quote from Tarō Asō above) may conflict with reality.

I would also say that, at a point in the history of the United States of America, there may have been a temptation to define an "American race"...and there are some today who still seem to foster such thoughts. There is sometimes a fine line between patriotism and racism / xenophobia.

I recently asked a neighbor of mine what the word racist means.....she told me it was when someone does not like her. By the way she is the most racist person I have ever known. Personally I feel the subject of racism is almost meaningless because of how often the term is misused.

Ideas like racism and sexism often are so over used many people. Many people are so willing to offended. Most of it Is nothing but drama.

If you're serious, User CP>Subscribed Threads>check box next to the thread>delete subscription in drop down box. This thread went way sideways.
