Do you think a LP is just sexier than any acoustic?

I've been wanting to buy a good acoustic for ages now and somehow never get to buy one, since as soon as I have some spare cash I start GASing for a historic Les Paul... I have enough humbucker guitars and actually NEED one acoustic, but can't resist the temptation of buying a Gibson Historic Les Paul when I can.... it's just so sexy and sounds awesome.....

or possibly a nice relic custom shop Strat or Suhr relic strat, both awesome guitars.

Will I ever own an acoustic...?!

If you dont play that much acoustic I would say get a decent mid level acoustic that sounds good and then keep getting the electrics...

    Isn't an LP historic like $3K+ ??

For $1K you can get a quite nice acoustic, either used or new.

In my experience, focusing on acoustic really improved my playing on the electric. A lot.

Is there any option if you just don't like LP's?

What kind of acoustic? These archtops are acoustic, and while I do like me some LPs(preferred scale length), I'll take a Collins archtop over a Gibson LP any day of the week.

I actually love playing acoustic, but somehow never get to buy one. I also play electric guitars unamplified a lot at home too. The key to getting a good touch on an electric is to play WELL acoustically.

Still, a Gibson Les Paul R7/R8/R9/R0 is what makes me nervous every time I see one! Not the same with all these fancy acoustics thou.

The only one I REALLY wanted to buy in a shop was Breedlove Revival Deluxe, magnificant guitar! Absolutely AWESOME. Killed any Martin or Taylor at twice it's price in the shop!

I don’t have a Les Paul right now, but if I had $5,000 to drop on a custom Les Paul or a Custom acoustic, I’m not sure I’d give the LP much consideration. For me, no great electric ever beats a great acoustic.

No. I think Orville's creation was one of the best.

Do you write songs? If so, get an acoustic.

I've purchased several acoustics throughout the years and always end up selling them or just not playing them. Bought a J35 like 6 months ago, maybe more, and have played it like an hour. I know most guys have both, but most guitar players I know lean heavily to one or the other. Maybe you're just an electric guy and will never get really excited about any acoustic. That's how I am and perfectly fine with it.

Have you considered a totally acoustic archtop?

Sexier is in the eye of the beholder.

LP is always sexier than any acoustic, but if you need an acoustic, just get one, otherwise you will get a new LP, then keep GASing for an acoustic

The real question is whether or not ANY Les Paul is "sexier" than ANY acoustic. In that case, not even close.

But I would definitely take an R8 in Bourbon Burst over an Ovation.
