I was wondering about buying a VOX AC30...I heard it does not like ODs and DISTORTIONS, is it true?

    FOXY BROWN
    HOT CAKE
    FISH FACTORY

    CREAM PIE

    LIQUID SUNSHINE
    TWIN SONIC
    ZIA DRIVE
    THE MULE
    COPPERHEAD
    OVERDRIVE BOOST
    on the way:
    GAINSTER
    BLACKSTONE

    distortions:

Owner of a made in England AC30 TBX (korg reissue).

They take OD's amazingly well IMHO. Distortions maybe less so, but even there they take them better then most amps. of your list I know the following will work well:

    OCD
    BOR
    MO'D
    Timmy
    Honey Bee
Hot Cake (was designed for use with an AC30).
KOT 4 most likely will too.

Not sure on the others. I own an OCD V1.4 and it's one of two OD's on my board as of now. Love it.

Mine sure did. I had a 2002 Korg TB. I used a Barber DD and it sounded great. I also loved a treble booster through the normal channel for old school. Try it, you'll love it.

My AC30HW takes pedals very well. Along with that, my other Vox-inspired amps takes them well also.

    But,

Interestingly though, my JMJ30 doesn't take pedals as well as some of my other amps. Then again, this is an amp designed to be pushed were the only pedal needed would be clean boosts if at all.

Mine, a 1962/3 AC-30 eats anything you throw at it - boosts, drives, distortion, fuzz. It's my reference amp for dirt.

Yeah it likes em fine, you just have to watch about not putting too much treble on the signal up front cause it will get harsh in a hurry with all the top end tone that the voxes have naturally.

It's a load of crock. They do have a lot of top end, but they take OD's just fine. And it looks like you own several I'd recommend, top of my list... Timmy. =)

I think that AC30's and there derivitaves take pedals better than other clean amps IMO. It's cause they have a more flat midrange and a nice crisp presence that all adds up to ODs and Distortions sounding great through them.

    i have a 64 non tb head
i personally do not like the way a TS808 style pedal (so thats about 90 percent of ods out there) work with the amp
i do however really like the hot cake with it

I've owned 4 vintage AC30s and an AC30HW. It depends if you're pushing the amp a bit. For OD into a completely clean AC30, I found mine pretty fussy: didn't like any of the straight TS style pedals, but did have good results with Hermidas stuff, the Klon, Sansamp, Barber Burn Unit, Big Muff clones (although too noisy for church). I found the Timmy harsh in this context. OTOH, if the amp is cooking a bit, almost anything will work well!

My old AC30 took pedals as good as any amp I have tried.

Jammed with my Timmy tonight. Asymmetrical mode. Beautiful OD tones. :)

Most of what you've got will be just fine. The brown rabbit will give you early foo fighters...

THIS will give you your amp but MORE...

Just picked up an Ibanez TS808 Reissue and it sounds fine with my Vox AC30CCH.

with than collection of dirt I really wouldn't be concerned...IMHO the AC30 is more of an effect by itself than say a Twin...unique sound, almost a sin to use anything but a booster...

I always thought mine sounded kind of nasty. Was one of the newer CC2's with blues. Maybe I just didn't like the amp as I sold it to my friend who's obsessed with Queen and he gets some amazing sounds out it.
