Does Eric Johnson economy pick?

    I've seen him do some economy picking, but in general, if he's playing that fast he usually does his "bounce picking" technique.

    Its part of his tone he says.... obviously he has a really unique attack on the strings.

    Sort've, it's mixed with an alternate picking approach. That's how he ends up with a lot of those five note groupings. You can get some good shots of it on some of his instructional videos. He uses lots of types of picking, look at the closeups on the right hand to pick it up.

    I find a lot of similarity between his picking approach and Yngwie's. Both of them have a cool hybrid style of econ/alt. picking.

    Get his instructional material, he explains and demonstrates his picking techniques.
