Does Fender Jade Pearl look "military"?

No local shops have these. The photos I've found online make it look rather like an "army-caster." Nothing wrong with that, but it's not too appealing to me.

Does this finish really look so drab in person?

It does indeed have a great base for digicamo.

I own a jade pearl metallic am. std. tele and to tell you the truth most of the time it appears to look grey or slate blue in color. It's one of those colors that is hard to photograph and changes color according to it's surroundings.

No, not at all, especially with a maple neck. It looks closer to Pewter Grey, like an Eric Clapton Strat, but with a green tint. It's quite attractive....got many compliments on mine.

I had a tele in that color. It's almost impossible to photograph, since it appears drastically different depending on the ambient light.

I can tell you this; it's a very attractive color. I didn't find it drab at all.

That Jade finish is definitely what some of the older Pewter Strats wound up looking like over the years. I have an 88 Strat Plus in Pewter and it has discolored to a green-ish type finish like the Jade Pearl. It's a neat color. Probably won't see a ton of them out there. I'm kind of mad they introduced the color after I picked up my Strat, though. Ha!

Looks really cool in person. Been wanting a new American standard in that color, and those fat 50's pickups sound really good with chords... It's true that it will look different in different settings, but military never entered my mind.

I never thought it looked like a military color until this thread and THIS picture. That sticker and hardware certainly give it a military look too...

I love the color in person, though. Probably one of my top 3 favorites on a Strat.

Looks army green to me. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you're after.

I don't see those looking grey or blue to me at all. They're green.

I feel that it's one of those colors that only really looks good with rosewood.

No. I really like Jade Pearl, and I don't want a military-themed guitar. That said, with the right (or wrong, YMMV), it *could* go that way, but with the white/parchment, it doesn't. Put a black p/g on it, and probably.

I also think the softer lines of the Strat make it less military.

I prefer it on maple. It seems to take on a lighter hue, suggested by the color of the neck, and looks less drab-

Isn't that the same color they called Sage Green in 2006? I remember seeing the Sage Green and Agave Blue MIM Strats. Not nearly as drab as this green pea soup 335:

My 2013 Jade AmStd Strat almost looks more metallic gold than green to me.

In some light it can appear fairly dark (see picture). In person it is a bit lighter. I personally love the color, especially with the aged components and rosewood board.

I've never seen the military associated with 'Pearl Metallic' before. Has there been a uniform re-design that I didn't notice?

I've never thought of that Fender Jade Pearl color as 'military'. But I love it - just so cool.
