Does Korg SDD 3000 require a mixer?

I can't seem to find much info online about how people are connecting their SDD 3000 rack units. Since it has a preamp in it, does that mean it needs to be in series with a guitar preamp or do people generally keep them in parallel & put them in a mixer like you would with most other rack units? Thanks

You can do both, but the internal preamp & analog I/O stages are part of the specific features this unit offers and running the dry through it sounds great; I usually prefer using it that way, especially if you use it in front of an amp (fantastic boost btw).

No, not in particular, it works great in front of an amp.
Of course if you start to really boost the signal with it you'll have to do with the boosted noise coming from the rest of your rig before it.

Some of the very best clean tone I've ever got was with a Korg SDD3000 pushing the front end of my old '67 Marshall Superbass set somewhere between 2-4; still vividly remember it to this day, sounded HUGE.
