if you're using the auto a lot, the more dynamic range the better, so put it first, or after a clean boost. otherwise, just place it to taste.

i like mine after comp and dirt, but before delay and modulation....that way, when you set your pad/synth sound, you can still capture the upstream effects to color your signal.
