Never tried one, but the angles look a lot different than a Tele or Strat.
Yes, I think it's a great guitar for sitting down.
Nothing more comfortable sitting down in my opinion than a Jazzmaster or Jaguar body style.
The JM shape is the most comfortable out there imo! Sitting or standing it's great
Yes, fantastic guitars for playing while sitting.
It's comfortable at first but at least with me, offsets always slide off my leg when sitting down which gets super annoying. I've wound up painting every offset I've owned in nitro and not buffing them a whole lot down there just so they are not super slippery poly to help with this.
I believe it was originally designed for jazz musicians who sat down when they played.
you damn right. its one of the most comfortable guitars ive ever played, personally
Not the popular opinion, but I don't think they're very comfortable to sit down with, I'd much rather play a Tele. Standing up they're fine, but I don't like them seated. Granted, I think Strats are uncomfortable to play seated too, so ymmv.
Best thing you can do is go to a store and try some out. Shouldn't be hard to find one to try.
Yea, it's OK.
For me it feels like it just nestles itself perfectly on my lap and under my right arm. Extremely comfortable.
I think you have your answer ... it's my favorite guitar to play sitting down/great balance. I've got a Fender AO and would love to check out a Suhr Classic JM as well.
This is my experience as well. I had a Jazzcaster (Tele hybrid) and it drove me to selling the body (transferring everything to a Warmoth Hybrid Strat body). Best change I ever made.
I had a Jaguar for a while and it was super comfortable sitting down. Standing up was another story cause it was HEAVY
I like them when seated, less so when standing.
Very comfy for me..
Since that was one of Leo Fender's prime design obectives, I would have to say yes and from my own personal experience that part of the design was a success. Otherwise, inferior to the Stratocaster from all other design elements. I much prefer playing my Strat and Jaguar over the Jazzmaster.
