Does the Mesa 50/50 sound similar to the Strategy 500?

I love the Strategy 500's sound, and would go straight for one, but 200 watts per side means I probably would never have it loud enough as needed to attain the great sounds I'm after. So, if it's the same sound, a 50/50 would be a good alternative. I'm not familiar with the 50/50's sound, can anyone shed some light on this?

No .... nothing sounds like a Strategy 500 in my ears.

Is a Strategy 500 too loud for home use (where a 50 watt is fine, and 100 watt is just barely cope-able now and then)? And does it have to be cranked to get it's great tone out?

You need to multiply the wattage by 10 to double the volume. My experience has shown numbers are not important. As in .... it sounds good or not. Judging amps by numbers is kind of silly in many ways. Believe it or not 1 watt is loud. All of these amps can be very loud. I feel the volume on the the Mesa amps works well in a large range. I have no idea if it would be too loud for your home.

I feel all these amps are overkill for home use for most applications.
