Does the OCD have enough mids for BF amps?

I bought the 1st version of the OCD, and it sounded pretty good with my BF Princeton. It sounded good at home, that is. As soon as I played it with a band at church, it seemed to get lost in the mix.

Now that we're up to version 4, is it worth trying again?

I haven't played the 4 but the 3 had more midrange than the v2 that I had at the time I played them side by side.

i'd give it another shot and remember to put 12v or higher in there.

V.4, IMO, had much better mids than the V.2 I had up until a few months ago. I use it for my main OD tone and it sits much better in the overall mix. I'm a LP mode guy, but HP had a bit more in the mids/top end.

    It's worth a try.

I've used a V4 OCD into my Vibrolux with great results. I find the trick is in the "tone/treble" knob. You have to make sure it's high enough so you cut through....it kinda seems like a "high-mid" control to me....

+1 Totally agree with that. I have a V4 as well.

When I briefly had a V3 running through my SFDR the answer was NO. But YMMV

Absolutely. In fact I think my V3 has too much mids sometimes...

I don't currently own a Blackface style amp, but when I did the OCD (in my case a V2) was not my first choice for OD. I suppose I will always prefer a Tube Screamer style of pedal with those amps.
