    Hi,

    I am a 50 year old who has been playing guitar for about 5 years and play mostly blues and simple jazz. I am looking for the following type amp of specifications and wonder if anyone can make any recommendations:

    Style = Tube Combo
    Power = 20-30W with a 5 W option
    Speaker = 12 inch
    Channels = 2 with foot switch
    Weight = 35 to 40 lbs
    Misc = Rerverb

    Thanks

    Mesa Boogie Express 5:25 1x12 seems to fit the bill. Not sure about the weight, though.

    Carr Vincent/Viceroy is all you need. This is probably one of the best amps built and covers everything you mentioned.

    The Mesa Express series sounds perfect for you. If you can budge a little on the weight (50 lbs), I would suggest the Express 5:50 1x12. Probably a little better suited for jazz with the 6L6s.

    Try them both out and see which one works better for you. Guitar Center usually has both in stock at all times.

    Shiva is 50-60 watts, weighs way more than 40 lbs and does not have a 5 watt option. So no, Bogner Shiva is not the amp he's asking for even though it's a great amp in its own right.

    The Mesa Lonestar Special or aforementioned 5:25 or 5:50 are probably great candidates. For Jazz I'd tend to get the 5:50 even though it's more wattage than you asked for it's 6L6 based and so will do big cleans a bit better than either of the other amps. All of these amps though like suffer from Boogieitis which gaurantees any Mesa/Boogie amp weights at least 90+lbs...

    I have lost weight just from hauling around Mesa amps.
