    True Bypass and Tap Tempo

Besides the Line6 DL-4 is there anything else out with both features?

    Thanks -Lution

The Carl Martin Delayla XL fits this description. It doesn't have as much delay time as the DL4 though. I think Akai also makes a tap-tempo delay pedal as well.

Expensive, but Diamond Memory Lane has this and more. 550ms max delay but 100% analog throughout.

No we do not fit the description;)
None of our products uses true bypass.
A new update on the XL is coming up soon, comes with a manual time and tap-tempo setting, so that the manual can be set as a preset.
No double head anymore, but with a fatter sound and a tone control.
Maybe it will get a loop in the feedback as well, plus it will likely also get an expression pedal jack.

No but we are speculating in adding a loop in the feedback, then people can add what ever they like, adding modulation means nicking one chip for modulation, which will influence on the time and sound of the delay, but the concern with the loop is that people should be careful when they add something there, selfoscillation can be uncontrolable if the volume of the effect is to great, but then again just turn down the delay volume and feedback.
That way we can keep the fidelity and lenght of the delay, it will be close to 2 seconds, and it will still sound good on the long delays.

Akai Headrush-not sure if it's true bypass, but an easy mod on a cheap pedal.

Can't you get a tap tempo upgrade to Boss digital pedals from Keeley?

It doesn't have to have DPDT or 3PDT switches inside to be true bypass - you can also use audio relays to do the switching. The relays can then be controlled from a simpler, more sturdy switch, or - as in the DL-4 - you can use logic control to tell the relays what to do.

    Hey, DLS owners.....

How is the notched delay selector for you? Do you find the presets limiting? I know you can tap in a time, but I am not sure if I can live with the delay control Not being continuously variable. What's your opinion?

The fixed delay channel is not limiting in my experience . . .I'd always keep a short delay there and tap in for longer delays. best one I've tried . . really.

I have not found the preset delay times on the EchoTAP limiting at all. Sine both the preset and tap-tempo delays have their own level I use the preset delay for a subtle distant echo effect and the tap-tempo for more dramatic delay uses. It's the perfect delay pedal for me. :AOK

The DLS tone is beautiful, but the alteration of the original signal is awful. Your milage may vary.

I'll start a new thread for DLS EchoTap feedback, as I don't want to hijack this thread.
    Thanks!

I think the Strymon Timeline has both of these features.

DLS had some cool stuff back then. And I waited for the Memory Lane 2 to cone out. Had sold the DL-4 in 2004.
