While TGP has undoubtedly contributed to my endless cycling through equipment, TGP has - more importantly - steered me towards artists that I may not have discovered on my own. Various threads have turned me on to the wonderful music of Jack Pearson, Tim Pierce, Grace Potter, and Adam Stark/Twist. That is some fantastic music.
Well, TGP did it again! I don't know dognmoon/Corey Witt, but I have read many of his informative threads and enjoyed his demo videos. Somehow, I go from reading a thread on some new Egnater amps to searching out and finding his CD "Strong" on iTunes. And I am so glad that I found this music. Not only are the guitar tones wonderful and complex - as you might expect based on his gear demos, but "Strong" is made up of great songs. Fumble, 1:46, and Love Falls Apart are my current favorites.
A few years ago, I completely stopped listening to all guitar oriented music. Most of it seemed like an endless display of incredibly complex, but ultimately unsatisfying technical prowess. Then, someone on TGP recommended Tim Pierce, and he played SONGS on "Guitarland". It was wonderful to hear. Likewise, Adam Stark and his band Twist played amazingly soulful grooves. The guitar again seemed capable of carrying a song, not just a solo.
"Strong" is the next great compilation of guitar songs in my journey. I am in no way affiliated with dognmoon, and I've never had the pleasure of meeting him. But I highly recommend checking out this CD if you want to hear some tasty tones and, more importantly, some great songs. Good job, dognmoon!
