Best thing is the first comment under the video:

"5 people got pregnant that night at the climax of this song. The strangest thing about it? 4 of them where men. True story"

Yeah, I get that JM can play but I really can't stand watching him.

Where are the flaming hoops, the whips, the poodles, the Supa' Bowl crowd?

There wasn't a dry seat in the house.

And in a lot of ways that IS what it's all about!

JM is almost to the point now where he's moved on from TGP Whipping Boy to TGP Elder Bluesman. We never thought the day would come, but I actually think it's safe for him to rejoin our ranks again without getting sozzled with rotten tomatoes. Not a proud moment, but I think we can put the douchestick down for good, folks.

Oh, and btw shame on us and who'd want to rejoin this pack of jackals, haha.

I don't see the problem. Pete busted perfectly good guitars. Jimi set his on fire. Eddie kills our ears with the same, tired, old solo he's played on every song since 5150, etc... They all get a pass, but JM gets bashed for laying his guitar down and playing it? What am I missing? I'm not a big JM fan (like some of his stuff) but, again, I don't see what the big deal is.

:idk Not sure what the big deal is. I've seen him get REALLY into a few guitar solos and it doesn't seem like he's being gimmicky, he's just playing the crap out of his instrument.

In 2007 I saw him play gravity this way, it was one of the first times he played Gravity that it really melted down like that. He really blew me away with that song. I never really liked that song, and I still don't really like the album versions of it. But that live version of it was something else altogether.

Since then, it seems like Gravity always goes long. I think eh uses that song as a conveyance to try new things on stage.

Edit: If I were Mayer, after this:

I'd cover the crap out of a Jonas Brothers song with an epic solo in the middle.

Well..Good to know the people of TGP haven't stopped chugging the hate-o-rade.

I'm not even a JM fan..But that was not bad, and most people here are wanks who will never play shows like that.

All this hate and bashing gets so old.. Maybe I should go read the 18th VH thread...

I like this playing way better than JM. He's kind of tired, boring, and sterile - to me. YMMV. By the way, screw-tube doesn't get that the below video is of a dude (like most great pickers BTW).

I totally agree, I think JM's great. I just kinda lol'd when I saw this video. The silly tap-solo on the floor seems like something you do after you've made "where the light is" and blown everyone's mind, just to mess with them.
    JM's trollin. :p

He looks forever constipated which is odd because I'm sure he can afford a personal colon cleansing assistant.

That's probably true. The Gravity meltdown is something of a standard now so I think you're right, he's trolling cause he can.

I think it's called 'entertainment' and the crowd seems to be enjoying it. I think that's kinda the point.

    YMMV

    PS - I liked it :)

I already do that at every gig - usually during our performance of "We Are Family" or "She Works Hard for The Money."
