Early 80’s Yamaha recording custom, Rogers dynasonic snare, K crash and ride, and New Beat hats...and me playing the 3 beats I can manage to keep.

EDIT: I should have added the Roland SPD-SX pad, but it wasn't in the photo. In addition to the big floor tom you can see that I don't use I have another rack tom that isn't normally set up on my kit.

EDIT 2: Found one with the SPD, and my drummers VDrum kit too.

First set is my '65 Leedy/Slingerlands in blue sparkle, 12/14/20. Second set is gold sparkle Slingerlands, 13/14/18/24. I'll have to take more photos of my other sets.

Here is my Tama White Satin Flame drums, purchased in February for $260. The rack toms were power sizes, and the previous owner cut them down and recovered the set. It's a nice practice kit, and the WS flame is killer and pristine.

My Red Tiger Pearl Slingerlands. I have since added another 16" floor tom and a black front bass drum logo head. I never use the 8x12 tom.

Nothing too impressive here! I enjoy the challenge of drumming and I’ll fill in at a jam session, but I’m nothing special.

I have a TD-11v set up at home. I have taken it to jam sessions and (here) played through my Boss Katana 100w. It’s great to plug into my looper to make quick backing tracks or demos of ideas.

After considering my speaker’s health, I picked up a Pearl Export from who knows what year with some basic hardware for $300 off craigslist. It came with a set of 80s Meinl Rake hats, a Sabian marching ride, and a Sabian B8 Thin Crash.

I threw new heads on everything except the bass drum and it sounds okay. I’d like a different crash for sure, but I don’t know what to look for yet.

I picked up some Zildjian New Beat hi hats and a OCDP 13” maple snare. I like both of those a lot and would love to slowly tweak my gigging rig to play nicer with those sounds.

I've been playing drums for over 30 years. The guitar thing is a bit newer to me. I got two shell packs, but only one set of hardware and cymbals. Hardware is mostly flat base reissue stuff from DW and Tama; cymbals are 90s era K Zildjian. The yellow satin kit is Chanute era Camco 13/16/22 and my fav recording snare with it, an 80s chrome over maple 5.5x14 Corder (nice old Keller shell) with 42-strand snares.

The big blacks are 1976 Ludwig Classics 14/16/18/24 (the last of the granitone 3-ply w/rings shells) and a 1967 Supraphonic snare.

I have a few other snares for kicks and giggles and I'm in the process of collecting another kit's worth of hardware with cymbals to follow.

1968 Ludwig Super Classics in WMP with a 69 Supraphonic & K Cons. Made in the fall of '68 so it's Maple/Poplar/Maple.

1968 Ludwig Super Classics in Blue Oyster Pearl. Just acquired these last week. I have a Rogers Dynasonic Wood Snare (Reissue) on the way as well. This kit was made in early '68 so it's Mahogany/Poplar/Mahogany, and it's basically NOS - looks like it just came off the factory floor.

Here's my '67 Burgundy Sparkle Ludwig set. As you can see, there's almost no fading. Most of these sets are brown now. Again, I never use the 8x12 tom. The drums sound and look spectacular. The rack tom arm is cracked. I never use it. You can see the tape on it, put there by the original owner. He played casinos and night clubs in Atlantic City, NJ.

Beautiful set. There's just something classic about a a wrapped four piece set. All my kits are wrapped.

Thanks, me too. It's my favorite Ludwig wrap, by far. Also, Dino Danelli of The Rascals had a set in Burgundy Sparkle and he was a huge influence and a drumming hero of mine.

Not a great pic, from a couple years ago in a pre-treated room.

The kit is a Ludwig Keystone X (maple/oak with double 45 degree bearing edges)

24" kick, 16" floor tom, 13" rack tom, 10" rack tom - titanium glitter wrap.

snare is Ludwig Supraphonic 14" x 5.5" (I'd like to add or replace with a 6.5" deep or 8" deep black beauty)

crash/splash cymbals are Paiste 2002

ride is a Zildjian 23" Sweet Ride

hi hats are a 14" no-name from the 80's or 90's - Avanti maybe? (it's very faded). They were cheap (a/k/a - "free"), but I have yet to hear a pair that I like more. I'm always looking, and have been recommended a few different 15" sets to try
(supposedly easier to place in a mix).

bass drum pedal is DW Machined Direct Drive, which I got for a great used price. I've contempalted buying a 'Trick' direct drive pedal, but lately my youtube feed has been showing me magnetic drive pedals.



Anyway, the kit is far nicer than my drumming abilities will justify. But I record a lot, and use a handful of different drummers. It's easier for all of us if I keep a good set mic'd and ready.
