Dual drives - Why does almost every dual overdrive have a Tubescreamer side? Which ones don't?

In the market niche of midgain dual overdrives (not just drives with a simple boost switch), almost all pedals seem to have a Tubescreamer side (or a similar midhumpy circuit).

I personally just can't make friends with the midhump, and I also don't like the typical clean blend tone of the typical TS pedals. So what are your favourite non-screamer dual drives where the sides can be stacked? Bonus points for order toggle switch.

Needs to have decent control over tone, gain, volume etc on both channels - In other words two fully-featured drives, not just a single-knob boost.

Fulltone GT500. Gets a bad rap but I think it’s the most versatile, durable, adjustable (not to mention affordable) gain/boost pedal I’ve ever run across.

Short answer, you're probably more interested in a dead battery fuzz for OD than the other class of pedals.

It can be hard to match or justify a TS variant if you're already getting what you want from a preamp. I don't know, but I think most of the early drives that are the basis for all other pedals were not really meant to go into amps for improving performance. They were meant as standalone preamps for boards and power stages, hence the suggestion of turned down fuzz. which will be lossier and less compressed

Do you have a boost or a comp with a tone pot? Does your amp have more headroom and bass capability than an AC15? If you run a silicon ff like a OD with battery sag, you could crank the gain on the boost/comp to get your dual pedal gain stages. You wouldn't want this order rearranged when it works

Foxrox Zim. 2 Independant ODs and you can select different flavors of drive with interchangeable ZIM cards.

The King of Tone circuit isn't based on a tubescreamer...

more of a blues breaker type circuit I think.

Hungry Robot HG+LG (High Gain + Low Gain) : each side has its own dispwitches allowing to sculpt your sounds. More gain, more bass, more treble, clipping options, etc...
Very versatile, and well built pedal. Love mine.

You might check out some of the builders who put two well-known circuits together in one chassis, but sometimes create out-of-the-ordinary combinations. I was sorely tempted by a Chicago Stompworks pedal at one point, and have recently been very happy gigging a Kirshman Pedals' "Java is Zen" pedal (just what it sounds like).

Amp 11 is not a TS circuit... The CoT boost side is magical.

I think fender has a couple new dual drives out now too late that aren’t ts based

The mid hump of the TS allows for solos that cut. Plus, many pedals seem to work best with one of Fender BF style, tweed style, Marshall style, or Vox style amps, but often don't work well with all of them. TS pedals are one of the few that tend to work pretty well with all of them.

So bottom line, it's a safe bet the player will be able to use it and like it.
