I saw Nels Cline play that guitar during a Wilco show in Austin a few years ago. Sounded great - but I attribute that to Nels Cline more than the guitar.

I’m sure it’s a very nice goldtop that will make someone very happy. Or nervous...

I read her book “please be with me” last week. She seems like a real sweetheart. She did say that when she was given her Dads guitars she couldn’t bring herself to touch the strings, mind you she was 2 when her Dad passed away.

One of the roadies (Kim Payne, maybe?) had one of them for a while after Duane died so Galadrielle “wouldn’t give it to the first guitar player she dated,” or something to that effect.

I think that might have been “Hot ‘Lanta,” the dark burst that later had “DUANE” inlaid in the back, with the old frets after a refret, though.

No way that's getting the reserve.

    $1M??

    Way too high.

You're right. I saw her on TV and you might say I was impressed. A beautiful lady inside and out. I would like to read that book.

The family of Twiggs Lyndon had possession of the dark burst Hot 'Lanta that was returned to Galadrielle. If I remember correctly, Twiggs traded Gregg a classic old car for it not long after Duane's passing.

My guess is Gibson will try to get in on this to complete the series. I don’t know why they haven’t made a DA “Layla” signature goldtop yet. Just a matter of time until they do though.

And I’ve been waiting for a goldtop in just the case they do.

Even with swapped pickups, that guitar still sounds like Duane's guitar to my ear. I can hear it. Listen to JD Simo's clips with it...in fact the whole album he did with it.

That guitar is far more important than Gilmours IMO...and his has been molested more than Duane's.

They aint stupid. Let be guested so that big name stars can drool and gush to up the value, then auction to the person who can bend over the longest.

If I was a zillionaire, I'd buy it and gift it to Derek Trucks.

Realistically, who is a possibility to purchase the guitar?

    -Irsay
    -Kirk Hammett
-Slash... wasn't the Perry burst a guitar that formerly belonged to Duane. Maybe I am getting it mixed up.
    -Some other investor?

    Not sure.

    Gilmour's has global appeal.

The Allmans are really more a US thing.

I disagree. Gilmours guitars may have been modified - but all the modifications improved the guitars. Then there is the iconic music on which the Black Stratocaster was
recorded - and the many many tours his guitars went on adventures.

Dang, I'm a bit short today, brother can you loan me a dime?

I loved when this guitar made the rounds a while ago. Vince Gill's footage was the best!

You’re correct, Kim had the guitar for years and gave it back to Galadrielle when she was an adult.

JD Simo has a few vids with it, believe most of the 'players' coming through have had a crack at it.

it's been refined since Duane owned it. Not sure the electronics (didn't see the link yet).
Be interesting, but yeah I think a LOT of folks are going to try to uncork guitars with rare providence now that Irsay dropped so much on the black strat.

Not sure this will get 3 mil. Or even a Mil. Will be interesting, but it's not like Duane was known for just that guitar through his career. Burst, SGs, Strats during his session days...

Be interesting to see if Irsay's in the mix.
I don't think Hammet will do it. I think he was a huge Moore fan.
Slash just bought another old one, I can't see him dropping a mil on a refin.

Perry burst Slash bought when they were more reasonable, (it's in the November rain video) supposedly it was one of duane's, (Not the hot lanta burst)...Slash gave it back to him after many years of Joe pestering as a B Day present. Believe Perry was in money issues when it was sold, but was unaware it WAS being sold. (Vague memory from Perry's book). Apparently Joe had swiped one of Slash's favorite top hats...and it magically returned after the guitar was gifted back.
