Man that thing scratches a lot of itches. Hope some sneak across the border here. I know out big box store sometimes gets some of those FSRs.

Funny, I was just reading, over at the Strat forum, how some people really like the Player Series pickups, what a big improvement they are over the old ceramics, etc.

As for this guitar, yeah it looks nice. But I’ll admire it from afar. $1049 is only 50 bucks from something like a Robert Cray Strat, where you get good pickups and a nice rosewood board. Different strokes.

 

I have something kind of similar, MIJ exclusive from 2018. I know the gold is a matter of taste, but I dig it

The single coils in the Player Series are indeed very nice. The humbucker in the HSS version is horrible though. Unbalanced and boomy.

Different strokes indeed. I hate player series pickups. They’re too hot and harsh IMO. Whatever modern voicing they’re doing means player series Strats don’t sound like Strats, teles don’t sound like teles, etc.

Oof yeah 1049 is pretty steep for a MiM Strat with stock pickups

chrome is too much bling bling.

 

Dude.. brushed nickel would've done it justice.

 

Reminds me of one of the limited 10 for 15 models they did a few years back. I still have it.

 

Make it a hard-tail and it would be better.

Absolutely loved those when they came out but i was set for Strats. The matching bass was sweet too.
It inspired me to put gold hardware on my Wolfgang stealth though.

 

Fender literally made a guitar called the "None More Black" Strat back in 2005. It is a FSR American Deluxe Strat with an ebony board and no fret markers. Here's mine next to my LPC. Wish I had a better picture, but you get the idea. I love this guitar. Bought it from a fellow TGPer a few years ago.

I love matching (painted) headstocks. Always thought the PRS Silver Sky would be more appealing with a matching, painted HS.
