Would you mind going into more details? Thanks.
It sounded... bigger, for whatever reason. Notes bloomed out better - as I said the harmonics jumped out easily.
The 70 doesn't sound bad at all - but the EJ sounded fatter and more full...
I've got a JB and a JH now and an EJ fuzz on the way, comparisons to follow!!
Now we're talking.
All you need is a Sunface... (I have a JB & a Sunface NKT 275 en route).
If I can get some time in this week I may try and record a demo vid comparing the Fulltone 70 to the EJ Fuzz...
In stock at MF with $30 off using spring2012 code. Pulling the trigger is in my future.
I'd like to hear that.
I just picked up an EJ Fuzz. This is my WOW pedal.
I'm no EJ expert but this fuzz NAILS Hendrix live tones. (Not that I'm a Hendrix expert but I have spent years listening to Jimi and virtually no time with EJ)
Just run a good strat with mid to low wounds into the EJ fuzz, a Marshall style amp with a touch of crunch and you are there.
I will say this - EJ does have good ears if he wanted to get that classic Hendrix live tone with this fuzz. Crunchy fat tone rolled back. Crushing huge high gain fuzz on 10.
It does not do that smooth fuzz I think of when I hear EJ - not with my stuff anyway.
YMMV. But this is my new favorite fuzz.
Question for people who have picked up an EJ fuzz, where are you guys running the Volume/Fuzz on your pedals?
Mine goes to about 10 o'clock and then has very little volume increase after that. The tone does get a little bit "thicker" above 10 o'clock on the vol.
Mine just gets a moderate volume boost if needed - not much though but enough for me.
I keep the fuzz backed off from full. Seems to get scratchy on full.
I really like the Dunlop Hendrix fuzz, much moreso than the JB fuzz but then again I use single coil PUs 99% of the time. Looks like my EJ fuzz arrives manana!
Yup. The JB fuzz is totally different then the EJ fuzz. The JB does work better with higher output pups. JB Fuzz needs a cranked tube amp with single coils and its smoother with better clean up.
My Hendrix fuzz was good but the EJ has the Hendrix tone to a tee IMO.
EJ's fuzz tone isn't exactly smooth - when I initally tried the EJ Fuzz I noticed it was grainier and spitty-er than, say, the Fulltone 70 - but then when I went back and listened to clips of EJ playing you hear that identical grainy quality - check 4:56:
bummer MF is not shipping this internationally ... thats a great deal.
I disagree about smoothness of the pedal. It's a lot smoother than my other FFs. So much that I'm trying to get more grit out of it.
Loving the tones I'm getting so far.
How is the EJFF with humbuckers??
Anyone tried it out yet with a LP style guitar?
I'm really close to ordering one of these...
I use a LP Special, but it has P-90s
