i have a question about the hendrix/fz burned strat (that dweezil recently had refurbished).

does anyone know (or have a guess) as to how the contact mic (piezo?)
is installed in the neck/neck cavity?

i remember reading an old FZ interview where he talked about it.
there is a separate volume knob for it, so he could blend in the sound.
i think it was used on a few tracks of the solos on "shut up and play yer guitar".

    just curious if anyone knew...
    thanks....

Yeah, why didn't Dweezil let it rip?

Spent an afternoon testing gear with Dweezil at his studio last month (his new rig has many lot of our pedals).

He was playing the single coolest Fender Custom Shop Strat I've seen? A FZ prototype with Frank's visage on the body, late 60's headstock, gold anodized 'broken' pick guard, stunning!!!

Why Fender didn't put it into production I'll never understand.

Very interesting. I saw him over the weekend on the Zappa plays Zappa tour, his rig sounded killer. Was surprised to see his go to guitar for most of the show was a tele, used the sg a fair amount when the added dirt was needed, and only picked the strat up for one tune.

I would love to spend an afternoon with him at his studio, seems like a genuinely nice guy and a phenomenal player.

Nice guy indeed. Glad you liked the sound of his new rig.

I started a thread which pictures of his rig (from the 2/10/2012 show) that were sent to us from someone who attended.

Did Dweezil put this guitar up for sale at one point? I thought I saw his website several years ago and he was asking $1mil. My recollection may be off though.

I wonder whatever happened to the Private Stock PRS he had made to play the "Zappa" material?
