Came across this today. It is pretty fun. The Moving Sidewalks.
I think I heard a smidge of pinch harmonics almost happening there.
The harmonica tone ruled!
Cool. Thanks for posting.
I remember when it came out. I grew up in Houston, and used to see them at Teen Canteen.(8th & 9th graders only) It was a regional hit, and they were cool!
Very cool! they had a reunion show at BB Kings in NYC a year or so ago. I missed seeing it by one day! Cool stuff.
What year was it recorded??
Wild guess might be 66-67?
Definitely fun, killer harp! Way ahead of the time for a rock band from that period.
Cool stuff. I have their CD. My half brother, Steve, managed them and played some keyboard with them early on. I'm told they used to practice out by my dad's pool in Houston.
The Chesterfield Kings covered that tune in the early 80's. Guitarist in the vid is using the awesome Rickenbacker Light Show guitar.
Greg the singer for the Chesterfied Kings is the one that turned me on to The Moving sidewalks as well as some of the other pyschodelic stuff from texas. worked in a record shop that dealt with mainly collectable stuff that he came into often.
a side note: the Bass player, Andy from the CKs wrote books on The Beatles and Rolling Stones gear and authenticated the Dylan strat a little while back.
The Moving Sidewalks is the band Billy was in when he met Jimi Hendrix. Jimi gave Billy a pink Strat.
