Well, it finally happened. Someone bought a guitar for the full asking price on Friday. Today they sent me one of the pictures with what looks like a finish flaw. I replied that it was just a reflection, not a flaw in the guitar. He then sends me a message asking if I'll sell for $200 less. I pointed out that he'd already bought the guitar.

Cancel the sale now. It will only cost you time and money later.

If you didn't ship the guitar yet, I would return his PayPal payment, & block him from buying from you again.
Do not sell to this idiot!
If he leaves you negative feedback, just contact ebay with you're emails as proof that he was trying to "pinch" you.
    They will remove his feedback.

It's a no win situation. Refund his money now rather than later when he makes a paypal claim and the guitar gets shipped back and forth.

Buy it now. It's real complicated.
Sad the bay has gone so wrong. I'd suggest he cancel his purchase officially thru ebay.

The best thing to do is call ebay and point this out and let them
    flag his account.

You will also need to do a non-paying bidder report if he does not
pay in order to get your fees back.

If you want to save the full price sale, send him a close up photo of the area in question showing what he saw is a reflection, not a defect. If he still balks at the sale, I'm with others, kill the deal and move on.

BTW I purchase a guitar on line after a similar situation. What I thought was a defect in one of the photos was a light reflection. The store pulled it out while I was on the phone, looked it over and confirmed it was just a reflection, no defects and sent me several photos of the area in question. When it arrived it was in pristine condition. It was listed at NOS and was exactly that.

For those that don't like Ebay, just remember Ebay is only a platform for sales. It does not have complete control over buyers or sellers. You need to think of Ebay as a swap meet. The owner of the swap meet is not responsible for every buyer or seller that enters the premises.

Yeah, I'm hoping I can cancel the deal. I can't return the money because he hasn't paid yet. I just hope he doesn't pay for it now - I know he'll find some imaginary flaw and file a dispute. Grrrrrr! No-integrity motherf*cker!

    :agree

That's what I'd do. Don't ship it to him, he'll just make it worse

Call eBay, report the 'buyer', cancel the sale, block the 'buyer', relist.
Even if the 'buyer' tries to buy it for full price--CANCEL THE SALE!
    DO NOT SHIP THE GUITAR!
This 'buyer' will only be a problem.

eBay is surprisingly good to deal with in person, on the phone.

I put in a request to cancel the sale - but the "buyer" has to confirm it.

I'll see if I can get someone on the phone - I don't think anyone will be in today.

Called eBay - it's all good. The "transaction" has been canceled and my fees refunded.

Cool, now block that clown and replace that pic with one that doesn't show the reflection or add another pic that doesn't show it and mention it's a reflection in the listing...
