Echoplex Off Still Enhancing Tone ?

    The word is that when the echoplex is off, that there is something about it that smooths out the tone

    Evidently Matthias Jabs would have one hooked up just for that, yet w/o engaging the echo

    what is it in the circuit that does that?

    So it's a JFET boost that does that

    Yeah, the EP Pre-amp does something with the phase of the signal that adds a bit of magic according to Peter Clinch ( he could explain it more).
    He's managed to capture it in a stand alone box.

    +1 This thing is amazing! Combine it with an H&K Replex and you have a reliable EP3.

    I wonder if there is a way to mod my Boss RE-20 with this as the preamp instead...HMMM!
