how much is the effect loop I'm pluging say an axe affects into going to effect the sounds? Do I need a sweet tube loop or will solid state be the same for modelling?

An effects loop will respond roughly the same way with an Axe-FX as it would with, say, most any delay or reverb pedal you might otherwise put in the loop.

As to whether there is an advantage to a tube-driven loop, the answer depends on (1) your intended use and (2) who you ask.

    Good luck.

It's going to be used for classic rock 70s crunch fuzz and such modelling. Sounds like it won't matter too much.
