Can anyone here speak first hand about their experiences with the MESA boogie effects loops?

I am thinking about taking my delay and chorus off my board and placing them in the loop, as I always use them for my clean tones (unless I do thin lizzy).

Anyway, on the fence here about getting a rack unit for the effects or just putting these two in the loop and velcro-ing them to my Roadster.

The MESA's I am looking for feedback on are the Roadster and EARLY 90's TOV...

Is there significant Tone loss / tone suck?

I own a few mesas and use the fx loop. To my ears, there is no compromise to the tone by doing so. And I am extremely picky about anything that takes away from the tone of amp!!

what pedals are you planning on using in the fx loop?
boss delays have always worked well for me in the fx loop of boogies.
i have two recto series amps, a blue angel and a maverick and i had the parallel loops in the amps modded to series. i use a small mixer to put the delays in and it gives me better clarity than using the parallel loop did.
FWIW i also run my trem and synth pedals in the loop (before the mixer) with great results.

I've had a couple Boogies, but my longest lasting (held onto the longest) is my Nomad 55. I use a G-Force in the effects loop for really sweet time-based stuff. Works great for me.

I also have an Axe-Fx, but I prefer the G-Force for this application rather than moving processors around. I had a G-Major on the Boogie at one time and it was great except for reliability issues.

My Metro JTM-45 has no effects loop, but I make do putting the pedals in front of it. Hey, that's what they (we) did in the day!

    Different strokes...

    enjoy

I have a Tremoverb and the FX loop has one big drawback. It will clip many of the effects put through it. There is a send level adjustment, but it sucks volume and bass.
I use mine only for the noise gate.

I put an EQ in the loop of my F-50, it brings it to life.

I have not had an issue with my TOV effects loop. Both delay and chorus in the loop work just fine.

My rectoverb had trouble with time based effects.

It really depends if that loop is pedal friendly or is a hotter line level set-up for rack effects. You'd be surprised how many people say that a pedal works great in an effects loop and don't even realize how bad it really is.

I'll definitely bring them. Crazy around here right now but soon that will pass. You may want to try the new Line 6 M13 with your rig, especially since you can pick one up at GC and return it if it doesn't work out. I plan on trying one out myself once I get situated.
