Hello Egnater owners!! I own a Mod 50 with the TD and SL2 modules. 80% of my tonal needs are covered right now, and I plan on getting the Vox module which is also sensational. Here's the deal...I miss my SLO and short of biting the bullet and buying another, I was hoping to get a higher gain module. I heard the Erect and MHG and they are not for me.

The EG3/4 is closer to what I seek, but I want more of those harmonic overtones that I used to get from my SLO. One of the guys at Egnater told me that some of his customers sold their SLO's after hearing the EG5.

This seems like a stretch, but I would like to hear your opinions about the EG5

Thank you all in advance for your feedback!

EG5 = best tone I've ever heard out of any amp.

I heard it while I was at seminar camp

I also have the TD and SL2 along with an ERECT and EG5. The EG5 takes over where the SL2 leaves off. It is voiced with more upper mids than the MHG and cuts through better when playing with a band. Be judicious with the treble knob (below 12 o'clock) or it will be really bright sounding. Not much experience with the Soldano's, but the EG5 is a great module.:dude

They don't have the EG5 on their site, is it new? What tonal ground does it cover (especially in comparison to what they already have)?

I know this may not help but after hearing John C's clips on this site I ordered one for my M4. I have the Vox(Love it!) SL2and the EG3/4. My E5 has been on the way for 2 weeks now. NAMM has slowed the pace at the shop. Anyway I am hoping it will be the lead sound that I am looking for. The SL2 and the EG3/4 are good but still not quite what I was hoping for for my hot sound. Maybe I can tell you more by next week.

EG5 is aggressive high gain, frequency focus is on a tighter upper mid. The design concept is to take the MHG (Mega High Gain) module and re-align the mids to cut in a live situation. It is a derivative of the SL2 high gain Marshall combine with a Vox EQ. Also known as the MoFo and for several moments it went by HHG (Hilly High Gain). Serious rock n roll module!
