I am considering a new amp for my house. I currently have a Peavey ValveKing (112).

What are your thoughts on strengths of one verse the other? Which one takes pedals better? I mainly play rock (modern and classic).

I am thinking of going with the Tweaker based on the different settings.

    Tweaker.

Generally sounds bigger and better IMO, it has an FX loop, with the added benefit that you can further tailor it with any (octal) power tubes of your choice. Also takes pedals extremely well.

Tweaker. I have both. Tweaker is way more versatile, sounds way better. I rarely play the C5. I couldn't live without the Tweaker.

For pure old-school Marshall tone: class 5
    For versatility: tweaker

Tweaker. Whatever you throw at it (Buckers, P-90's, Single coil, solid, semi hollow, hollow) you can get tones you want quite easily.

I love mine and for getting a head for $299 used I was ecstatic.

I think a Tweaker wins. I will pick one up and post a review.

Try some Tung Sol 5881s in it. :aok I recently picked up a Tweaker with these tubes from another member and I've chosen to sell other gear that I thought I'd never part with in order to fund an engagement ring. To me it really sounds that good.

There are a few different tubes that are known to work well in these amps but if the 5881s are your style then it doesn't get much better under $350 IMO.

I'm in the minority here... :hide2

I like the Class 5. Had a Tweaker... traded it in for a Class 5. YMMV.

I have both - if you want a NMV amp with a cool Marshall vibe that is pretty loud before it breaks but handles pedals much like a Marshall go C5. If you want versatile and does decent representations of many things (with it's own voice) the Tweaker. If I were going to have only one amp the Tweaker would be my choice of these.

I have both too. The Tweaker is so versatile, but the Marshall does it's one-trick better.

Has anyone else noticed the Class5 head is now starting to change to $500 at some places, instead of $350. That's a 42% price hike in one year. :messedup Did they do this to make those 1 watter 50th Anniversaries not seem so expensive?:roll

at M.F. .... new ones are $500 in the drop down menu choice now.
